That deck box houses the anchor wash down, plumbed from the pump near the mast step to the deck box in welded stainless, and the hand held windlass controls, so I can stand there with hose in one hand and control in the other and haul the anchor. Also holds the snubber, an old fashioned lead line, and other stuff, and makes a great seat far forward when under way. The S shaped pieces go from the deck box to the bulwarks and divide the smaller forward triangle from the main deck, containing muddy anchor water to that space and draining overboard through welded stainless pipe to exits just above the waterline.
